When curl is asked to use HSTS, the expiry time for a subdomain might overwrite a parent domain's cache entry, making it end sooner or later than otherwise intended.
This affects curl using applications that enable HSTS and use URLs with the
insecure HTTP://
scheme and perform transfers with hosts like
x.example.com
as well as example.com
where the first host is a subdomain
of the second host.
(The HSTS cache either needs to have been populated manually or there needs to have been previous HTTPS accesses done as the cache needs to have entries for the domains involved to trigger this problem.)
When x.example.com
responds with Strict-Transport-Security:
headers, this
bug can make the subdomain's expiry timeout bleed over and get set for the
parent domain example.com
in curl's HSTS cache.
The result of a triggered bug is that HTTP accesses to example.com
get
converted to HTTPS for a different period of time than what was asked for by
the origin server. If example.com
for example stops supporting HTTPS at its
expiry time, curl might then fail to access http://example.com
until the
(wrongly set) timeout expires. This bug can also expire the parent's entry
earlier, thus making curl inadvertently switch back to insecure HTTP earlier
than otherwise intended.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tcp: check skb is non-NULL in tcp_rto_delta_us()
We have some machines running stock Ubuntu 20.04.6 which is their 5.4.0-174-generic kernel that are running ceph and recently hit a null ptr dereference in tcp_rearm_rto(). Initially hitting it from the TLP path, but then later we also saw it getting hit from the RACK case as well. Here are examples of the oops messages we saw in each of those cases:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: nf_reject_ipv6: fix nf_reject_ip6_tcphdr_put()
syzbot reported that nf_reject_ip6_tcphdr_put() was possibly sending garbage on the four reserved tcp bits (th->res1)
Use skb_put_zero() to clear the whole TCP header, as done in nf_reject_ip_tcphdr_put()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/iwcm: Fix WARNING:at_kernel/workqueue.c:#check_flush_dependency
In the commit aee2424246f9 ("RDMA/iwcm: Fix a use-after-free related to destroying CM IDs"), the function flush_workqueue is invoked to flush the work queue iwcm_wq.
But at that time, the work queue iwcm_wq was created via the function alloc_ordered_workqueue without the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM.
Because the current process is trying to flush the whole iwcm_wq, if iwcm_wq doesn't have the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM, verify that the current process is not reclaiming memory or running on a workqueue which doesn't have the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM as that can break forward-progress guarantee leading to a deadlock.

drivers: media: dvb-frontends/rtl2830: fix an out-of-bounds write error
Ensure index in rtl2830_pid_filter does not exceed 31 to prevent out-of-bounds access.
dev->filters is a 32-bit value, so set_bit and clear_bit functions should only operate on indices from 0 to 31. If index is 32, it will attempt to access a non-existent 33rd bit, leading to out-of-bounds access. Change the boundary check from index > 32 to index >= 32 to resolve this issue.

nilfs2: fix potential null-ptr-deref in nilfs_btree_insert()
Patch series "nilfs2: fix potential issues with empty b-tree nodes".
This series addresses three potential issues with empty b-tree nodes that can occur with corrupted filesystem images, including one recently discovered by syzbot.
This patch (of 3):
If a b-tree is broken on the device, and the b-tree height is greater than 2 (the level of the root node is greater than 1) even if the number of child nodes of the b-tree root is 0, a NULL pointer dereference occurs in nilfs_btree_prepare_insert(), which is called from nilfs_btree_insert().
This is because, when the number of child nodes of the b-tree root is 0, nilfs_btree_do_lookup() does not set the block buffer head in any of path[x].bp_bh, leaving it as the initial value of NULL, but if the level of the b-tree root node is greater than 1, nilfs_btree_get_nonroot_node(), which accesses the buffer memory of path[x].bp_bh, is called.
Fix this issue by adding a check to nilfs_btree_root_broken(), which performs sanity checks when reading the root node from the device, to detect this inconsistency.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
block: fix potential invalid pointer dereference in blk_add_partition
The blk_add_partition() function initially used a single if-condition (IS_ERR(part)) to check for errors when adding a partition. This was modified to handle the specific case of -ENXIO separately, allowing the function to proceed without logging the error in this case. However, this change unintentionally left a path where md_autodetect_dev() could be called without confirming that part is a valid pointer.
This commit separates the error handling logic by splitting the initial if-condition, improving code readability and handling specific error scenarios explicitly. The function now distinguishes the general error case from -ENXIO without altering the existing behavior of md_autodetect_dev() calls.

jfs: fix out-of-bounds in dbNextAG() and diAlloc()
In dbNextAG() , there is no check for the case where bmp->db_numag is greater or same than MAXAG due to a polluted image, which causes an out-of-bounds. Therefore, a bounds check should be added in dbMount().
And in dbNextAG(), a check for the case where agpref is greater than bmp->db_numag should be added, so an out-of-bounds exception should be prevented.
Additionally, a check for the case where agno is greater or same than MAXAG should be added in diAlloc() to prevent out-of-bounds.

ext4: avoid use-after-free in ext4_ext_show_leaf()
In ext4_find_extent(), path may be freed by error or be reallocated, so using a previously saved *ppath may have been freed and thus may trigger use-after-free, as follows:

Similar to ext4_split_extent_at(), we use *ppath directly as an input to ext4_ext_show_leaf(). Fix a spelling error by the way.
Same problem in ext4_ext_handle_unwritten_extents(). Since 'path' is only used in ext4_ext_show_leaf(), remove 'path' and use *ppath directly.
This issue is triggered only when EXT_DEBUG is defined and therefore does not affect functionality.

drm/amd/display: Fix index out of bounds in degamma hardware format translation
Fixes index out of bounds issue in
cm_helper_translate_curve_to_degamma_hw_format
function. The issue
could occur when the index 'i' exceeds the number of transfer function
points (TRANSFER_FUNC_POINTS).
The fix adds a check to ensure 'i' is within bounds before accessing the transfer function points. If 'i' is out of bounds the function returns false to indicate an error.

[Analysis] There are two paths (dbUnmount and jfs_ioc_trim) that generate race condition when accessing bmap, which leads to the occurrence of uaf.
Use the lock s_umount to synchronize them, in order to avoid uaf caused by race condition.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: ath9k_htc: Use __skb_set_length() for resetting urb before resubmit
Syzbot points out that skb_trim() has a sanity check on the existing length of the skb, which can be uninitialised in some error paths. The intent here is clearly just to reset the length to zero before resubmitting, so switch to calling __skb_set_length(skb, 0) directly. In addition, __skb_set_length() already contains a call to skb_reset_tail_pointer(), so remove the redundant call.
The syzbot report came from ath9k_hif_usb_reg_in_cb(), but there's a similar usage of skb_trim() in ath9k_hif_usb_rx_cb(), change both while we're at it.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ACPI: battery: Fix possible crash when unregistering a battery hook
When a battery hook returns an error when adding a new battery, then the battery hook is automatically unregistered. However the battery hook provider cannot know that, so it will later call battery_hook_unregister() on the already unregistered battery hook, resulting in a crash.
Fix this by using the list head to mark already unregistered battery hooks as already being unregistered so that they can be ignored by battery_hook_unregister().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/mlx5: Fix error path in multi-packet WQE transmit
Remove the erroneous unmap in case no DMA mapping was established
The multi-packet WQE transmit code attempts to obtain a DMA mapping for the skb. This could fail, e.g. under memory pressure, when the IOMMU driver just can't allocate more memory for page tables. While the code tries to handle this in the path below the err_unmap label it erroneously unmaps one entry from the sq's FIFO list of active mappings. Since the current map attempt failed this unmap is removing some random DMA mapping that might still be required. If the PCI function now presents that IOVA, the IOMMU may assumes a rogue DMA access and e.g. on s390 puts the PCI function in error state.
The erroneous behavior was seen in a stress-test environment that created memory pressure.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
slip: make slhc_remember() more robust against malicious packets
syzbot found that slhc_remember() was missing checks against malicious packets [1].
slhc_remember() only checked the size of the packet was at least 20, which is not good enough.
We need to make sure the packet includes the IPv4 and TCP header that are supposed to be carried.
Add iph and th pointers to make the code more readable.

ppp: fix ppp_async_encode() illegal access
syzbot reported an issue in ppp_async_encode() [1]
In this case, pppoe_sendmsg() is called with a zero size. Then ppp_async_encode() is called with an empty skb.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/sched: accept TCA_STAB only for root qdisc
Most qdiscs maintain their backlog using qdisc_pkt_len(skb) on the assumption it is invariant between the enqueue() and dequeue() handlers.
Unfortunately syzbot can crash a host rather easily using a TBF + SFQ combination, with an STAB on SFQ [1]
We can't support TCA_STAB on arbitrary level, this would require to maintain per-qdisc storage.

NFSv4: Prevent NULL-pointer dereference in nfs42_complete_copies()
On the node of an NFS client, some files saved in the mountpoint of the NFS server were copied to another location of the same NFS server. Accidentally, the nfs42_complete_copies() got a NULL-pointer dereference crash.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/mad: Improve handling of timed out WRs of mad agent
Current timeout handler of mad agent acquires/releases mad_agent_priv lock for every timed out WRs. This causes heavy locking contention when higher no. of WRs are to be handled inside timeout handler.
This leads to softlockup with below trace in some use cases where rdma-cm path is used to establish connection between peer nodes
Simplified timeout handler by creating local list of timed out WRs and invoke send handler post creating the list. The new method acquires/releases lock once to fetch the list and hence helps to reduce locking contetiong when processing higher no. of WRs

nfsd: fix nfs4_openowner leak when concurrent nfsd4_open occur
The action force umount(umount -f) will attempt to kill all rpc_task even umount operation may ultimately fail if some files remain open. Consequently, if an action attempts to open a file, it can potentially send two rpc_task to nfs server.
