SUMMARY

A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was found in the web server
of SCALANCE S firewalls. Siemens provides firmware version V4.0.1.1,
which fixes the vulnerability and recommends to update to the newest
version.

The SCALANCE S firewall is used to protect trusted industrial networks
from untrusted networks. It allows filtering incoming and outgoing
network connections in different ways.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSS scoring
system in version 3.0 (CVSS v3.0) (https://www.first.org/cvss/). The CVSS 
environmental score is specific to the customer's environment and will impact
the overall CVSS score. The environmental score should therefore be 
individually defined by the customer to accomplish final scoring.


* Vulnerability CVE-2018-16555

  The integrated web server could allow Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks
  if unsuspecting users are tricked into accessing a malicious link.
  
  User interaction is required for a successful exploitation. The user
  must be logged into the web interface in order for the exploitation to
  succeed.
  
  At the stage of publishing this security advisory no public exploitation
  is known.
